Dr. R. Palanivelu
District Governor Elect (2012-13)
Dr. R. Palanivelu jointed Rotary in the year 1983 and is the charter member of Kumbakonam Central. He is the Centennial President of Rotary club of Kumbakonam Central. He served as the District chairman polio plus surveillance 2005-06.

He was born at Kumbakonam and received MBBS from Thanjavur Medical College and Diploma in Child Health from Kilpauk Medical College of Madras University. Also he received his MD (paediatrics) post graduate degree from Madurai Kamaraj University.
A Major Donor, he is married to Mrs. Saraswathi, a home science graduate. His daughter Sivasakthi is married, employed in Reuters and settled at Bangalore.
In the cadre of senior civil surgeon, he has excelled as chief pediatrician, Resident Medial Officer, and Hospital superintendent of Govt District Head Quarters Hospital, Kumbakonam. He was the coordinator for the Health Facilities to the pilgrims during Mahamaham Festival. His service in medical relief and rehabilitation of Kumbakonam school fire accident children (July 2004) and Tsunami victims (December 2004), were recognized by the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) Delhi.
Dr. R. Palanivelu is the senior child health consultant at Anbu Hospital, Kumbakonam. He is a life member Indian Medical Association (lMA), Indian Academy of Pediatrics (lAP), National Neonatology Form (NNF) and Breast feeding promotion network of India (BPNI).
He is doing Immunization free of cost to the children at Kumbakonam on Saturdays for the past 25 years as on going project. He has released a booklet on polio eradication in Tamil. He is a member of Hospital advisory committee of Govt Head Quarters Hospital kumbakonam, member Railway station consultative committee kumbakonam, member Saraswathy Gana Sabha and member Ishwar Society Kumbakonam.
